American Idol has found its Final 2.

After Ryan Seacrest elicits oohs and ahhs by showing off his new black puppy Georgia, the reality show eventually got down to business and made its final cut Thursday night. Check out highlights from the previous night's milestone 500th episode here.

Does the ailing Caleb get to stay? Or did his weakened voice give Alex or Jena the advantage? Skip to the end for results, but first, a few highlights:

Hometown visits Jena is just a mess of tears when she goes home to Farmington Hills, Mich., Alex gets Alex Preston day in Mont Vernon, N.H., and Caleb chows down on biscuits and gravy in Asheville, N.C. Also, his little brother Houston is not so little.

Perfect pairings For the finale, Jena will sing with Paramore, which is great for her but not so much for Demi Lovato, whom we were sure was angling to be a part of Idol. Alex will duet with his hero Jason Mraz (who will wear the hat?), and Caleb — whoa! He will perform with KISS. We can't wait for the tongue action!

Lock them doors! Idol champ Scotty McCreery is in the house. We're glad he survived that scary home invasion. His song "Feelin' It" talks of flip-flops, sand and tans, which we take to mean this will be one of the summer's new anthems.

Fall TV day-by-day schedule

Any guesses? While Jena and Caleb are big crowd pleasers for their performance skills, Alex has the musicianship. Both he and Jena put unique spins on their songs, but Alex has been accused of trotting out the same laidback style time after time.

In the end, America's votes advance Jena and Caleb. So sorry, Alex. At least you'll still have Jason Mraz and that floral sweatshirt!

Are you happy with the results? Did the right two singers advance to the finals?

American Idol airs its performance finale Tuesday at 8/7c and results on Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.
