FX Renews American Horror Story, Because This Show Will Never Die

This show will outlive us all

Lindsay MacDonald

Even though the premiere of the eighth season of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Storyis still over a month away, FX has already renewed the series for Season 10. Wow.

"[Murphy] asked for a 10th season of American Horror Story, which we were happy to give to him," FX CEO John Landgraf told Deadline Thursday, though he did not confirm or deny that the tenth season would be the anthology drama's last. "A lot of that comes down to Ryan and whether he still feels inspired about it. I think the eighth cycle, which is currently in production, is awesome and crazy, and I think the fans will really like it. Part of what's cool about American Horror Story is its anthology nature. So, it comes down to whether Ryan and his collaborators, like [executive producer] Tim Minear, could come up with stories that they are excited about."

The next question on everyone's minds is whether American Horror Story's iconic cast will sign on through Season 10. Sarah Paulson,Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman and Emma Roberts are all expected to return for Season 8, which is subtitled Apocalypse, but no commitments have been made for Seasons 9 and 10.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 10/9c on FX.
