Felicity Huffman is returning to ABC. The Desperate Housewives star has signed on for the third season of American Crime, Deadline reports.

Huffman, who appeared in the first two seasons of the series, is the second actor after Regina King to be confirmed for the third season. Like American Horror Story, American Crime has featured the same actors playing different roles in new seasons as the stories and characters change. Others cast members, including Timothy Hutton, are expected to sign deals to reappear in the show soon.

American Crime ends with open-ended fates for two major players

Season 3 will be set in North Carolina and tackle labor issues, economic disparity and individual rights. Previous seasons' subjects have included racial profiling and sexual assault.

Despite low ratings, American Crime received a surprise renewal at this year's Upfronts thanks to critical acclaim and awards-season attention. The series received 10 Emmy nominations in its first season, including a win for King.
