The reports are true: AMC is officially developing a drama series based on the Preachercomic books.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This Is the End) will write and executive-produce the show, while Breaking Bad's Sam Catlin will act as showrunner.

Report: AMC developing series based on Preacher comic books

"This is amazing! We've tried for seven years to work on Preacher and we're so psyched AMC is finally letting us. It is our favorite comic of all time, and we're going to do everything we can to do it right. Humperdoo!" Rogen and Goldberg said in a joint statement.

AMC officials said they're banking on the show to become "another iconic AMC series" on the heels of other comic adaptation The Walking Dead.

Preacher, written by Steve Dillon, tells the story of Rev. Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher who has lost his faith and is trying to track down God to confront Him about abandoning His responsibilities. He's joined by a former girlfriend and a friendly vampire, and they're on the run from immortal villain the Saint of Killers, who's trying to track Jesse down and kill him.
