Amazon's Lord of the Rings prequel may not have a tittle, but the forthcoming series has found its lead. Per Variety, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Midsommar's Will Poulter is set to star in a yet-to-be-revealed role.
Details about the series have been kept tightly under wraps but we do know that the story takes place in the Second Age, effectively ruling out appearances from fan favorites like Aragorn, Frodo, and Legolas. Plus, Peter Jackson, who directed both the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies on the big screen, will not be involved with the television project.
The show's creative team includes showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay and Game of Thrones writer-producer Bryan Cogman, who has signed on to consult on the series. Plus, Lindsey Weber (10 Cloverfield Lane), Bruce Richmond (Game of Thrones), Gene Kelly (Boardwalk Empire), and Sharon Tal Yguado, along with writers Gennifer Hutchinson (Breaking Bad), Jason Cahill (The Sopranos), and Jason Doble (Stranger Things), will serve as executive producers.
