Things are looking up forJeopardy!host Alex Trebek amid his cancer battle.

The legendary game show host shared another new update on his chemotherapy treatment with People on Wednesday and revealed that he is seeing some very good results at this time: He's in "near remission," according to his doctors.

"It's kind of mind-boggling. The doctors said they hadn't seen this kind of positive result in their memory," Trebek told the magazine. "Some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent."

Trebek first revealed his diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March and vowed to fight for his life, despite the fact that the prognosis was not optimistic.

"I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease. Truth told, I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years!" Trebek said in a video statement to fans. "So help me. Keep the faith and we'll win. We'll get it done. Thank you."

Jeopardy! audiences have offered Trebek an outpouring of support; in a video thanking fans the week after announcing his diagnosis, the host said, "I'm extremely touched by the warmth you have expressed in your comments to me. I'm a lucky guy."

Trebek has also been honest about the emotional lows he has experienced during his chemotherapy treatments. "What I'm not used to dealing with," he told Good Morning America in early May, "is the surges that come on suddenly of deep, deep sadness, and it brings tears to my eyes. I've discovered in this whole episode, ladies and gentlemen, that I'm a bit of a wuss. But I'm fighting through it."
