Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) joined the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.team this week. But her arrival wasn't even the most exciting part of the episode. No, that honor belongs to the team member who's been keeping a big secret from Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg). But let's first take a look at how we got to this startling discovery.

Lady Sif arrives on Earth in search of Lorelei (Elena Santine), who escaped when the Dark Elves invaded Asgard in Thor: The Dark World. She enlists the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to capture Lorelei by placing a collar on her that will prevent the villain from using her powers of persuasion on men. Unfortunately, Ward (Brett Dalton) quickly falls under her spell.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: What Really Saved Coulson and Skye?

After we get the requisite shock of Sif seeing Coulson alive out of the way — and his asking her not to reveal the truth to Thor (Chris Hemsworth) because he wants to do it himself — the team must now track down Lorelei and Ward in Las Vegas, where he brought her because she asked for a palace. Get it, Caesar's Palace?

There's also a side storyline about Coulson trying to track down Director Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who has apparently gone off the grid, which is no doubt connected to the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Instead, he turns to Sif for answers, questioning whether she's come across any blue aliens in other realms. Both Kree and the Frost Giants are brought up, the most popular theories since the alien was revealed last week, but they were among a long list, so it could be any or none of them.

While Fitz (Iain de Caestecker) attempts to fix the collar, which was damaged in their first run-in with Lorelei, Lady Sif and Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) bond over their shared empathy for men who end up under Lorelei's spell. Unfortunately, Ward returns to the S.H.I.E.L.D. plane, and Fitz falls under Lorelei's spell and traps Sif in the lockup. Melinda stands up to Lorelei, who tells May that she wasn't the person Ward really desired. Dun. Dun. Dunnn. Could it be Skye (Chloe Bennet)? Finally, Sif is able to capture Lorelei, and May prevents Ward from killing her.

Does Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. need to be super to succeed?

Also during the episode, Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) has Skye's blood tested to get information on the miracle drug that saved her and Coulson, but doesn't come up with anything. Coulson refuses to let her send the blood to HQ for testing, but later admits to Skye that an alien was the source. However, Skye isn't upset. She's just happy that they're both alive. Tired of being in the dark, Coulson says the two of them will get to the bottom of this without telling the team, lest it put them in danger. First, they need to go after the person responsible for Skye being shot: Clairvoyant. However, it's revealed that there's a hidden microphone in the room, with May listening in on the other end. She phones in a report to HQ saying, "He knows. I repeat, Coulson knows." So May has been keeping one hell of a secret this whole time!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC. What did you think of the episode?
