USA's Political Animals Elects Heroes' Adrian Pasdar

Hail to the Chief this summer on USA!

The cable network has added formerHeroes star Adrian Pasdar to play the recurring role of the President of the United States in its six-hour event drama Political Animals, it was announced Wednesday. He joins cast members Sigourney Weaver, Carla Gugino, Ciarran Hinds, James Wolk, Sebastian Stan, Ellen Burstyn, Dan Futterman, Roger Bart and Brittany Ishibashi.

In the series, President Paul Garcetti (Pasdar) has appointed former First Lady Elaine Barrish (Weaver) as his Secretary of State after defeating her in the primary. As she deals with the State Department crises, she's also trying to deflect a Washington journalist (Gugino) who's out to destroy her career. Hinds will play Elaine's ex-husband, while Futterman will play the Bureau Chief of the Washington Journal who romances Gugino's character.

Production has already begun shooting in Philadelphia. Political Animals will premiere on Sunday, July 15 at 10/9c on USA.
