Is Adele following in M.I.A.'s footsteps? After the Sri Lankan rapper gave the TV audience the middle finger during her Super Bowl halftime performance, Adele flipped the bird while accepting her award for Best Female Artist of the Year at the Brit Awards.

NBC apologizes for M.I.A.'s "spontaneous" middle finger gesture during Super Bowl halftime show

In the middle of her acceptance speech, host James Corden interrupted, saying, "I'm so sorry, and I can't believe I'm about to cut [you] off." Corden had apparently been urged by programming executives to speed thing along because the show was running late. Adele then responded, "Goodbye, and I'll see you next time around," before using the offensive hand gesture."I flipped the finger, but it wasn't to my fans," the 23-year-old singer told The Sun after the show.  "I'm sorry if I offended anyone, it was the suits that offended me."

Check out the heated moment in the clip below. WARNING: Obviously, the video features an offensive gesture.
