Break out the big guns and warm up your vocal chords because ABC has finally announced premiere dates for Marvel's Agent Carter and Galavant, as well as spring return dates for some of its most popular dramas.
Designed to bridge the gap between the fall and spring half-seasons of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter is set in 1946 and follows the adventures of Hayley Atwell's titular Peggy Carter as she works an administrative job at the Strategic Scientific Reserve (the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D.) and attempts to clear Howard Stark's (Dominic Cooper) name after he's framed for selling his deadliest weapons to the highest bidder. The limited series will take over S.H.I.E.L.D.'s time slot for eight weeks beginning Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 9/8c. S.H.I.E.L.D. will then return with all-new episodes onTuesday, March 3.
In a similar gap-bridging situation, musical comedy Galavant will stand in for Once Upon a Time during the fairy-tale drama's winter break. From Dan Fogelman (Tangled), composer Alan Menken (Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast) and lyricist Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid), the half-hour series stars Joshua Sasse as a once-dashing hero who's lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Beginning Sunday, January 4 at 8/7c, Galavant will spend eight weeks chronicling the title character's quest to exact revenge and restore his "happily ever after," airing back-to-back episodes each week. Once Upon a Time will then return on Sunday, March 1.
ABC also announced a return date for all three of its Thursday-night Shondaland dramas: After their fall finales on Nov. 20, Grey's Anatomy,Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder will all return on Jan. 29.
