A major blow was struck against the comeback movement for teen idols from the 1990s, as ABC Family dropped the axe on its comedy Melissa & Joey after four seasons, The Wrap reports.

The series, which is the network's first comedy to hit the 100-episode milestone and win a prestigious People's Choice Award, stars Melissa Joan Hart as an overworked politician (seriously) and Joey Lawrence as her "manny." Spoiler alert: the two eventually fall in love and get married!

It was the latest showbiz stop for the two leads. Hart is best known for playing Clarissa in the Nickelodeon teen series Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina in ABC and The WB's Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and Lawrence is best known for playing Joey in Blossom and being the face that peered back from the poster you hung above your bed.

Melissa & Joey will end its run following the conclusion of its currently airing 20-episode fourth season. The seventh episode of the season will air Wednesday at 8/7c on ABC Family.
