ABBA is still one of the biggest-selling acts in pop history, even though the Swedish pop group broke up in 1982. Their music has gained new life in the musical-turned-movie Mamma Mia! English rock bandGenesis is responsible for making frontman Peter Gabriel and drummer Phil Collins household names. Jimmy Cliff helped push reggae onto the global stage while The Hollies made their mark with hits like "Stop! Stop! Stop!" and "Magic Woman Touch." Fronted by Iggy Pop, the Stooges helped lead the way for everything from punk to heavy metal.

"We are very happy to present this year's inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as they represent a great cross-section of artists that define the broad spectrum and history of rock and roll and people that have contributed immeasurably to our business" Hall of Fame Foundation President & CEO Joel Peresman said in a statement.

The Ahmet Ertegun Award for nonperformers will go to David Geffen, the founder of Geffen Records, and songwriters such as Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, Ellie Greenwich & Jeff Barry, Jesse Stone, Mort Shuman and Otis Blackwell.

The 2010 class of inductees were chosen by over 500 voters of the Hall of Fame's foundation.  Artists are not eligible for the honor until 25 years after the release date of their first record. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's inaugural induction took place in 1986.
