It's slammer time for Wyatt Cryer when The Haves and the Have Nots returns Tuesday and the druggie heartthrob — played by former Calvin Klein underwear model Aaron O'Connell — has lots to think about. He's been arrested for the hit-and-run death of a little girl and for leaving a second victim in a vegetative state, crimes he committed while driving high as a kite. But Wyatt has a very powerful and conniving daddy with a big, fat checkbook.
"Wyatt has always been a black mark on the family, and his timing couldn't be worse with these accidents," says O'Connell. "His father, Jim [John Schneider], is a famous judge and the front-runner in the race for governor of Georgia. This could completely derail the campaign." Wyatt's mom, Katheryn (Renee Lawless), thinks her son should pay for what he did, plus she despises Jim with a passion and would love to see his political aspirations go up in flames.
"The whole thing leaves Wyatt an emotional wreck," O'Connell says. "He's torn between keeping things hush-hush and throwing the blame somewhere else or doing what's right and telling the truth." Either way, Jim intends to come out on top. "Jim will always do what's best for Jim," O'Connell says. "I wouldn't be surprised if he actually finds a way to benefit from all this."
That's not the only crisis the Cryer clan will have to face: Wyatt's sister, Amanda (Jaclyn Betham), who turned into a crazy stalker last season, is determined to keep terrorizing the guy who raped her — and now she has a gun.
The Haves and the Have Not airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on OWN.
