9-1-1 is making room for a little love in Season 2.
Okay, we're sorry for that one. The important news is that Fox has added '90s icon Jennifer Love Hewitt to Season 2 of the Ryan Murphy first-responder procedural. Hewitt will be stepping into the 9-1-1 call center in the wake of Abby Clark's (Connie Britton) exit in Season 1. She will play Maddie, a brand new call center operator who also happens to be Buck's (Oliver Stark) sister.
The series tackles bizarre cases taken on by the Los Angeles emergency services after calls come into the 911 call center. In Season 1 alone, people were almost swallowed by snakes, babies were stuck in pipes and children's' bounce houses were carried away by balloons.
While Hewitt will be stepping in to replace Britton, who always had a single-season contract, there is still hope for Britton's Abby to return. According to TV Line, Murphy and his team have been working with Britton to renegotiate her contract so she could return as a guest star for a couple of episodes in the second season. It remains to be seen if the Friday Night Lights actress will have room in her schedule for the appearances as she films the first season of Bravo's Dirty John.
9-1-1 returns to Fox this fall.
