Fantasia Barrino got out of the hospital Wednesday, but on the night she was rushed to the hospital, a 911 call reveals she was bleeding while going in and out of consciousness.
In the 911 call, obtained by TMZ.com, an unidentified male caller said Barrino had taken a bottle of aspirin and was "slowly losing consciousness." When asked if she was bleeding, the male voice replied "yes," and added that they had placed her in the shower.
"She's in the shower. Her family tried to put her in the shower to try to keep her awake until the paramedics get there," he said. The dispatcher then instructed that they take her out of the shower.
The 26-year-old American Idol winner was dehydrated and exhausted Monday night when she took aspirin and a sleep aid, said manager Brian Dickens. Her overdose was classified a suicide attempt by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Barrino's hospitalization followed allegations from a woman, Paula Cook, that the singer engaged in a "covert adulterous affair" with her husband, Antwaun Cook, and that Barrino was to blame for their separation in June.
Barrino has been released from the hospital, Dickens said Wednesday.
"She has been lifted up by the outpouring of love and support from her fans," he said. "She is more committed than ever to her daughter and her work because they are her heart, her soul and inspiration."
