21 Jump Street arrested audiences over the weekend, taking the top spot at the weekend box office.

The remake of the '80s TV show, now starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, grossed an estimated $35 million in its first weekend of release, according to Box Office Mojo.

The Lorax clobbers John Carter at the box office

The Lorax followed at No. 2, taking in another $22.8 million. After a disappointing start, John Carterfell again to third place with $13.5 million.

Fourth place marked the spot for Project X, which grabbed $4 million. A Thousand Words completed the top 5 with $3.7 million.

Act of Valorfollowed closely behind with $3.67 to take sixth place. At No. 7, Silent House drew $2.1 million.

Completing the top 10: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (No. 8, $2.4 million), Will Ferrell's limited-release Spanish-language comedy Case De Mi Padre (No. 9, $2.2 million) and This Means War (No. 10, $2.1 million).
