A day after getting shut out at the Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, Empire rebounded with two Golden Globe nominations Thursday.
The show is up for drama series against Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot,Narcos and Outlander, while Taraji P. Henson will face off for lead actress drama honors against Outlander's Caitriona Balfe, Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Eva Green (Penny Dreadful) and Robin Wright (House of Cards). The defending champ in both categories, The Affair and its star Ruth Wilson, were snubbed.
Mr. Robot's Rami Malek went 2-for-2 after scoring a SAG nod Wednesday, making it into the drama lead actor race against Jon Hamm (Mad Men),Wagner Moura (Narcos), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan).

On the comedy side, Transparent will try to retain its series crown against Casual, Mozart in the Jungle, Orange Is the New Black, Silicon Valley and Veep.
Over in film, Carol, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, Room and Spotlight are up for drama picture, while The Big Short, Joy, The Martian, Spy and Trainwreck will duke it out for the comedy/musical picture prize.
The 73rd Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Ricky Gervais, airs live Sunday, Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC.
