Prepare for another funeral in the next season of 13 Reasons Why.

Netflix has finally dropped the first trailer for Season 3 of the intense YA drama series, which teases a major character's death. The streaming service has also revealed when Season 3 premieres and, per Entertainment Weekly, announced that the series has also been renewed for a fourth and final season. After months of anticipation, we've just learned a lot about what's ahead for 13 Reasons Why.

The official logline for the third season, which will consist of 13 episodes, teases that "when the aftermath of a tumultuous Homecoming game culminates in the disappearance of a football player, and Clay finds himself under police scrutiny, it's up to a shrewd outsider to steer the group through an investigation that threatens to lay bare everyone's deepest secrets. The stakes are raised in this riveting third season of 13 Reasons Why, as the consequences of even the most well-intended actions can alter a life forever."

The trailer starts with a crime scene investigation in progress, with a voiceover addressed to Deputy Standall (Mark Pellegrino): "Here's the thing about the kids at Liberty High. They're connected by their secrets. Connected and forever changed. The truth is, given the right circumstances, the right motivation, anyone could have done this."

In the trailer, we see Tony's (Christian Navarro) crew suddenly slamming a trunk, Chloe (Anne Winters) and Zach (Ross Butler) snapping out of an intimate position, Nina (Samantha Logan) cleaning up a bloody cloth in a bathroom sink, and more suspicious and agitated behavior from the teen characters.

The most important reveal comes at the tail end of this glimpse at the new season, when we see Clay (Dylan Minnette) joining his classmates at the rainy funeral site for none other than Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice), whose death will no doubt be the focus of the new season. Sure, the trailer looks a little like if How to Get Away with Murder and Riverdale had a streaming baby, but we'll have to wait and see how the first Katherine Langford-free season shakes out when it arrives in a few weeks.

13 Reasons Why Season 3 premieres Friday, Aug. 23 on Netflix.
