Pamela Taylor (Kathryn Harrold). Only someone in a coma couldn't figure out what happens next. YES, GIORGIO suffers from a terminal case of the cutes. Reviving the simplistic formula of an earlier era simply doesn't cut it with audiences that have grown to expect more realism in romance. Franklin

J. Schaffner, who seems a long way from his success with THE PLANET OF THE APES and PATTON, keeps his direction simple and anonymous, which was probably the best thing to do with this material. The opera sequences, as expected, are lavish and entertaining. The song "If We Were in Love" was

nominated by the Academy for an Oscar.
