Popular British comic Wisdom is given a dual role as a happy-go-lucky street repairer and strict Nazi officer in this farce. Wisdom's harassment of soldiers gets him inducted into a British army labor regiment. The purpose is to use his road mending skills, but in a miscalculation he parachutes behind enemy lines. Captured by the Nazis, Wisdom uses his resemblance to the German general to perform some goofy heroics and save himself and the other captives. Direction is slack, but the concentration is on Wisdom's antics.
