The Offence Reviews

Connery is superb in this psychological drama as a police officer who beats accused child molester Bannen to death during an interrogation. Eventually it is revealed that Connery lost control due to a traumatic molestation incident in his own childhood. A powerful and complex performance by Connery is somewhat weakened by Lumet's typically stiff and stagey direction, which tends to sap the life out of the film.
