The Entity Reviews

A great performance by Barbara Hershey fails to save this poorly directed tale of the supernatural, which was sold as a fictionalized account of an actual paranormal case history. Hershey is a single mother living in Los Angeles who is repeatedly assaulted and raped by an invisible presence. She tries to convince herself that it's just a hysterical reaction to childhood trauma, but eventually psychiatry fails and parapsychology wins, as a big, scary thing makes an appearance. Lustful Hershey fans may enjoy the rather ingenious special effects by which invisible hands molest the actress, but ever-inept director Sidney J. Furie is ham-handed as usual, with the camera swooping all over the place between dull bouts of psychological and parapsychological mumbo-jumbo.
