During WW2 a Romanian prison is taken over by a new fascist warden and administrator who is especially cruel to the political inmates.The Communist inmates have the most to fear from him since Fascist Romania allied with Nazi Germany is fighting a war against the Communist Soviet Union in the east. The fascist prison warden is planning to transfer most of the political inmates to a larger prison by way of a forced march.However,he secretly is arranging for their execution during the march for a supposed attempt to escape the guards.The political inmates are ready for their transfer to the larger prison when they get wind of warden's secret plan from a sympathetic prison guard.They realize their lives are forfeit unless they can come up with a plan to save themselves in time.
