Dexter stars in a dual role as a wounded king and a wanted adventurer who poses as the king until the ruler can recover. Zealous royal cousin Quinn uses his mistress, Robbins, to uncover the whereabouts of the actual king and kills both Robbins and the monarch. Before Quinn can expose Dexter as an impostor, Dexter kills Quinn in a climactic swordfight. Satisfied with the surrogate king's attitude and behavior, the court chamberlain and the lovely princess, Lawrence, the only two to know of the switch, allow Dexter to carry on in charge of the kingdom. This fun, empty-headed swashbuckler owes much to Quinn's bravura in his nonstarring role. A loose remake of THE PRISONER OF ZENDA and THE MASK OF THE AVENGER.
