The April Fools Reviews

Unhappily married to ultimate suburban shrew Kellerman, Lemmon falls in love with the equally unhappy Deneuve at his corporate boss' cocktail party. The romance builds and oddly intensifies when he realizes that Deneuve is boss Lawford's wife. When Deneuve suggests that they both leave their sad lives behind and fly off together to her home, Paris, Lemmon agrees and says farewell to the suburban executive wasteland. An optimistic romance that got lost in the 1960's shuffle, THE APRIL FOOLS displays a beautiful relationship between Lemmon (in a fine performance), and the hauntingly gorgeous Deneuve. Although it lacks the intensity and sophistication that could have made it a classic, the film still has a definite charm and appeal.
