Terror Train Reviews

Better than most in the slice-and-dice genre, TERROR TRAIN has a couple of decent performances from Ben Johnson and Jamie Lee Curtis, great photography from John Alcott (BARRY LYNDON; THE SHINING), and some atmospheric direction from Roger Spottiswoode (UNDER FIRE). The script follows the fright essentials to a tee. A disturbed student terrorizes a train full of partying college kids and kills them off one by one, using an assortment of gruesome techniques. The killer, who dons various outfits, is a hypersensitive med student who goes off his rocker after a nasty fraternity hazing. While the technical aspects of the production are superior and the setting is fairly unusual, the film still succumbs to the standard slasher-movie cliches.
