Stardust Reviews

A sequel to THAT'LL BE THE DAY that takes up the rise to fame of a pop star at the point where the earlier picture ended. Essex is again the singer who suddenly finds himself the center of vast attention and the possessor of enough money to buy a castle in Spain. But as he immerses himself in casual sex and the heavy drug scene, his ego is warped by his fans' ever-increasing adulation. The core of his personality seems to get burned away, and he is little more than a vacuum by the end of the film. A realistic and biting portrayal that stresses how important sincere human relations are for everyone, regardless of prestige or power. Essex, a pop star himself, portrays an experience very close to his own life. Other members of the cast include Dave Edmunds and Keith Moon, whose real-life excesses led to his early death.
