Spies in the Air

Set just before the outbreak of the Second World War, this is the story of a British test pilot who is caught up in a scheme to steal plans of a top-secret aircraft, working for an unnamed enemy. Made in 1939 and released in March 1939 (UK), by the time it was in general release, war had been declared. After a lawsuit initiated by Ernest Hemingway over copyright infringement was settled, the film, in an abridged form, was premiered in 1940 in the US.
