Rebel Rousers Reviews

A motorcycle gang, led by Dern, wreaks havoc on a small Arizona town, only to have the sheriff chase them away to the local beach. Visiting architect Mitchell, in town to meet with pregnant girl friend Ladd, takes her to the beach to discuss their problems. They meet up with the motorcyclists, who beat up Mitchell and attempt to abduct Ladd. Dern, a former high school buddy of Mitchell's, stalls the gang by suggesting a bike race be held to see who wins the girl. In the meantime, Mitchell makes his way to a local farm, where he enlists a group of Mexicans, armed with pitchforks, to come to his aid. Though REBEL ROUSERS was filmed in 1967, it wasn't released until 1970, a year after Nicholson appeared in EASY RIDER. This film marked his last outlaw biker role, and soon after he was to achieve international fame, after many years of relative obscurity as an actor in Hollywood B pictures. Also appearing as a gang member in REBEL ROUSERS was Dean Stanton, later known as Harry Dean Stanton (PARIS, TEXAS).
