A follow-up to the enormously popular 1984 movie POLICE ACADEMY, this second adventure of zany cops on the loose follows the traditions set by the first film, as it fails to generate anything more than a snore from thinking audiences. The story, featuring many of the same noncomic talents

from the original, involves the graduates of the infamous police academy as they are assigned to the toughest precinct in town. Run by Pete Lassard (Howard Hesseman), the area is rife with crime, and evil Lietenant Mauser (Art Metrano) is determined to make himself a name at Lassard's expense.

However, the hapless patrol, led by pretty boy Carey Mahoney (Steve Guttenberg), has some surprises for Mauser. The picture's comedy is dependent on numerous scatalogical jokes that aren't funny, supplemented by moronic slapstick and prejudiced humor. Only Michael Winslow, repeating his uncanny

ability as a sort of human sound-effects machine, is able to give any life to this, but his efforts are like reviving a beached carp. They don't come any worse than this (...or do they? POLICE ACADEMY 3: BACK IN TRAINING followed in 1986).
