Mickey, a young college student facing a terminal cancer recurrence (referred to as "the crab"), is given less than six months to live. Having exhausted traditional treatments, she convinces her skeptical father, Jake, to take her deep into the woods to meet Solveig, a mysterious healer who has promised a free cure in exactly three days. Upon arriving at the rustic, isolated camp, the father and daughter are subjected to bizarre conditions and unsettling rituals. Solveig, who speaks in cryptic poetry, vehemently rejects Christian prayers, secretly doses Jake with sickness-inducing hemlock tea to force him to open his mind, and performs an agonizing ritual using holy water and a childhood lullaby to "trick" the tumor. When Jake protests the immense pain his daughter endures, Solveig argues that her magic is no more vicious than the radiation traditional medicine previously subjected her to. As tensions peak, Jake temporarily leaves the camp and discovers from a local motel clerk that Solveig is actually an infamous, centuries-old necromancer. Local legend dictates that she was buried alive by enraged townspeople after she resurrected a stillborn baby, and locals still throw stones on her makeshift grave to keep her trapped in the dirt. Returning for the third and final day, Jake witnesses the climax of the ritual, where Solveig uses her ancient magic to alter the balance of life and death. Declaring, "I take you a shadow. You give me life," Solveig absorbs the deadly illness into her own body, screaming in agony as she takes the fatal burden upon herself. In the aftermath, a baffled doctor reviews Mickey's medical charts, completely astonished to find absolutely no trace of cancer or even residual damage from her past treatments. Having witnessed the impossible, Jake tells the doctor they don't need any further tests, simply stating that they "believe it".
