Despite a good cast (including Curtis in one of his earliest roles), this film suffers from a gutless portrayal of the subject. Murphy is the famed western outlaw who idolizes Donlevy. The two take on Curtis, along with Best and Martin, to school them in outlaw ways. There's no attempt at character sketching. Instead, the famous names are bandied about amid a series of raids and hard riding. Murphy begins questioning his blind loyalty towards his mentor, and finally goes out on his own after Donlevy is gunned down. Action fans will be pleased, but fine potential was completely wasted.
