Jubilee Reviews

Neat and quirky, this is undoubtedly one of the freshest black comedies around. Runacre plays Elizabeth I, who is magically transported into the London of the 1970s punk era. Presently she finds herself with a woman's collective featuring every kind of social pariah, and she is taken on a whirlwind tour of the "New London." This frenzied film delivers interesting social commentary, enhanced by the fast-paced editing. Occasionally the film gets out of control but not enough to hinder it noticeably. The performances are energetic, and Runacre is satisfactory in her unusual role. Featured in the cast are Little Nell and O'Brien of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW fame. The music is by some of London's best punkers, including Ant in a featured role. This movie deserves to be a cult classic.
