Barry plays both retired outlaw James and bad guy look-alike Fenton. The latter pulls off a series of crimes, correctly assuming everyone will think he is the infamous outlaw. Lowery, a lawman who believes in the ex-robber's innocence, allows James to tail the gang on one front, while he also pursues them. The film ends with a climactic chase. The film suffers from too many characters packed into a relatively short time frame and a tendency toward too much talk.
