Nora Sanders (Valerie Niehaus), a young anesthesiologist from Berlin, is incredibly nervous. Her fiancé, Eric (Florian Fitz), has just proposed, and she's also scheduled to give her first presentation at a medical conference in St. Petersburg. Despite the summery temperatures, the Russian metropolis gives her a frosty reception. The culprit is pediatrician Andrej Michailov (Martin Feifel), assigned by the conference's organizing committee as her personal chauffeur. Andrei, a surgeon at an under-resourced children's hospital, is already swamped and less than thrilled to be chauffeured around for a well-to-do doctor from the West. So, when he receives an emergency call from the hospital, he readily accepts the opportunity to put Nora in a taxi. But the taxi is attacked, and Nora is robbed. Andrej is plagued by guilt when he learns of Nora's misfortune. He wants to make amends for his mistake, reveals his undeniably charming side, and even helps Nora in her search for the ex-soldier Grischa (Rolf Hoppe), her grandmother's (Nicole Heesters) unrequited love from her youth. Against all odds, the two former adversaries grow closer - much to the displeasure of Andrej's ex-girlfriend Jelena (Julia Bremermann), who wants to emigrate to America with him. Against the breathtaking backdrop of St. Petersburg, director Dennis Satin stages this touching love story, brilliantly cast with Valerie Niehaus and Martin Feifel. The passionate encounter between Nora and Andrej is mirrored in the decades-old, unfulfilled love story of Nora's grandmother and the ex-soldier Grischa, superbly portrayed by Nicole Heesters and Rolf Hoppe. The prominent ensemble is rounded out by Julia Bremermann and Florian Fitz.
