Warner Baxter plays the title role in the first film in the "Crime Doctor" series, based on a popular radio program of the time. He plays the brains of a gang of burglars who loses his memory after he is hit on the head by one of his suspicious comrades in crime. Suffering amnesia, he starts again from scratch and becomes a psychiatrist, while all the time trying to regain his memory. He becomes the head of the state parole board and gets mixed up with some of the old gang, who hit him on the head again. He regains his memory, and turns himself in. Luckily, he receives a suspended sentence.
