"Awakening" is a short audio/visual piece that puts the viewer in an impossible role: serving as the detached observer as someone else transitions the states of consciousness between being awake and being asleep. Will Copps uses this unique framework to tackle such issues as the confusion of self-identity, self perception, and the acceptance of the dynamics of the environment around us. "Awakening" was created with an organic approach to filmmaking where the audio and video were developed simultaneously, with each input driving the other, to create a unique web of synesthetic elements with threads of high-contrast imagery and electronic music.
