A documentary produced by the advocacy group Natural Resources Defense Council was created to raise awareness about the little-known issue of ocean acidification, which poses a serious threat to marine life and the health of the entire planet. Like global warming, ocean acidification is caused by the excessive levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the Earth's atmosphere, which has been rising since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.
