Make it a movie night!

November is the month to treat our horror movie hangovers with holiday movie chasers, but it doesn't have to be holly jolly all the time. Yes, many of the new films coming to streaming in the penultimate month of the year feature an unhealthy dose of Christmas tree lights, but others steer clear of holiday cheer, like Prime Video's Way of the Warrior Kid or Netflix's The Mosquito Bowl.

There aren't any big theatrical blockbusters making their streaming debuts (that we know of yet — release dates can be announced just days before they hit streamers), but highlights include Prime Video's Madden, starring Nicolas Cage as the legendary football coach John Madden; and the critically lauded South Korean film Possible Love.

If you're just here to get in a holidaze, November can help you out with that, too. Sappy Christmas movies include A Dog's Perfect Christmas, Guarding Stars, and the animated film Steps. And if you're looking for holiday movies from Hallmark, Lifetime, or Great American Family, we have those lineups, too:

Jamie Chung and Joey Graziadei, The Holiday Spark
2 of 27Roku

The Holiday Spark (The Roku Channel)

Joey Graziadei continues his meteoric ascension up the celebrity ladder as the heartthrob in Roku's Christ-mance movie The Holiday Spark. The former Bachelorette runner-up, Bachelor star, Dancing with the Stars winner, and future The Traitors contestant plays a firefighter who enlists the help of a children's book illustrator (Jamie Chung) to put on a holiday bash at his firehouse. It is quite possible that the "spark" in the title has more to do with romance than fire, but you'll have to tune in to find out. This will go great with your pre-midterms anxiety. [Trailer]

Ruby, A Dog's Perfect Christmas

A Dog's Perfect Christmas (Netflix)

Look who's talking! In this film, it's a Basset Hound, who narrates the story of a family pulled apart during a health emergency over the holidays, and details the lengths he goes to in order to bring his human owners together with the help of a Corgi puppy (who apparently enjoys riding robotic vacuums). Thomas Haden Church provides the pooch's voice, while Dennis Quaid, Milo Ventimiglia, and Mary Steenburgen also star. This will go great with your post-midterms anxiety. [Trailer]

Wednesday, Nov. 4 on Netflix

Second Chance Holiday (The Roku Channel)

Ayesha Curry shows her range in her feature-film starring debut, playing a woman who returns home for the holidays, where she reunites with the high school boyfriend (Matthew Daddario) who dumped her on Christmas day when she was 18. Super Troopers 3 (Hulu)

Every VHS copy of Super Troopers is soaked in bong water, but that's not a concern with the streaming debut of Super Troopers 3, the new film from comedy troupe Broken Lizard that premiered in theaters earlier this year. Once again, Rhode Island's finest highway patrolmen protect and serve while under the influence of whatever they can get their hands on, and Farva (Kevin Heffernan) finds time to try to marry Thorny's (Jay Chandrasekhar) sister. [Trailer]

Lucy Hale and Ian Harding, The Twelve Dates of Christmas
7 of 27Hulu

The 12 Dates of Christmas (Hulu)

There have been many holiday shows and movies with a romantic spin on the classic song title The Twelve Days of Christmas, but this Hulu original film is definitely another one. Lucy Hale plays a woman whose badgering family won't let her forget that she's a loser single person during Christmas, so she vows to be attached the next time the holidays roll around and goes on 12 dates in the 12 weeks leading up to Christmas to find a man. After many disasters, she finds romance with a hunk (seven-time Teen Choice Award winner Ian Harding) she meets in a chance encounter. Yep, it's a Pretty Little Liars reunion without the creepy student-teacher affair! [Trailer]

Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki, Guarding Stars
18 of 27Netflix

Guarding Stars (Netflix)

Predictions for Jared Padalecki's post-Supernatural career ranged from box office superhero megastar to cowboy hat-wearing The CW procedural lead, and one of those has already come to fruition and gone away because of cancellation (R.I.P. Walker). In hindsight, we all should have predicted he would become the star of a Netflix Christmas movie, playing a hunk who engages in the holiday movie trope of faking a relationship with a hottie who doesn't initially like him, opposite a co-star who was also a big deal in a 2000s CW series. Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester plays a bodyguard (yes) whose newest client is an action star (Padalecki), and despite some tension, they decide to just remain professional. Just kidding, they hook up. Sorry for the spoiler! [Trailer]
