Project Hail Mary and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie lead the list

Summer blockbuster season is here at the movie theaters, but in more important and relevant news to you, it's also here in your own living room cineplex. Call up that one friend of yours, because July is a great month to host a few movie nights, with multiple bona fide smashes coming home to stream, including three of the top five grossers of 2026.
Comedy! Sci-fi! Horror! Romance! Teens getting eaten by a shark! The new movies to stream at home in July cover it all. Take a look at what's coming to Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Prime Video, and more.
Note: The list includes movies coming to major subscription streaming services for the first time; others movies not yet on a streaming service will be available via video on demand.
Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown returns for the third movie in Netflix's film franchise as Sherlock Holmes' sister. This time, her impending nuptials are interrupted when her big brother goes missing.
Wednesday, July 1 on Netflix
The sequel to the 2019 film Ready or Not picks up right where the first one ended, with Samara Weaving's Grace MacCaullay covered in blood (not her own) as she once again fends off families trying to murder her for control of the world. This time, she's brought her sister (Kathryn Newton) along for the fun.
Thursday, July 2 on Hulu
One of 2026's biggest commercial and critical hits will now be one of streaming's biggest hits. Project Hail Mary combines geeky astrophysics with emotional character beats — much like The Martian, which was also based on an Andy Weir book — as a science teacher (Ryan Gosling) takes on a mission to save the Earth (and the entire universe) with the help of a new friend. Note: This has been streaming on the Amazon-owned MGM+, but is now on the much more popular Prime Video.
Friday, July 3 on Prime Video
Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin slaps his name on this new take on the classic legend of the Mummy, in which a couple (Jack Reynor and Laia Costa) discover that something is wrong with their daughter, who was recently kidnapped and mummified (wtf?).
Friday, July 3 on HBO Max
An adaptation of Colleen Hoover's 2022 novel, Reminders of Him stars Maika Monroe as a woman who, after serving a sentence for the manslaughter of her boyfriend, tries to reconnect with the daughter she had while she was in prison. Needless to say, many people try to keep her away, but not the local barkeep (Tyriq Withers), with whom she forms a romance.
Friday, July 10 on Peacock
Back in the old days of the late 1970s and early 1980s, dubbed copies of the VHS tape Faces of Death made the rounds at the slumber parties of daring teenagers who wanted to watch real, rare footage of people dying. The snuff film inspired this fictionalized horror about a young content moderator (Barbie Ferreira) for a social media platform who believes someone is uploading footage of people actually being killed.
Friday, July 10 on Shudder
This adaptation of the post-apocalyptic Stephen King novel is set in an alternate America where a totalitarian government holds an annual event in which 50 young men compete in a walking contest, with the penalty for stopping being death. (Though getting out of that ridiculous contest seems like a win no matter the cost.) Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson star.
Friday, July 10 on HBO Max
Sofia Coppola is the Sofia and Marc Jacobs is the Marc in Marc by Sofia, a documentary film directed by Coppola about the famous American fashion designer.
Thursday, July 16 on HBO Max
The fifth installment of the popular Disney Channel original movie franchise sees Princess Red (Kylie Cantrall) — the Queen of Hearts' daughter — and Chloe (Malia Baker) — Cinderella's daughter — return to present-day Wonderland, where their time-traveling hijinks from the previous film create a new villain. The film makes its debut on Disney Channel on Thursday, July 16, a day before hitting streaming.
Friday, July 17 on Disney+
It's a bit of a misnomer, but the film Heartstopper Forever is the final chapter of Netflix's sweet queer romance drama series. This time, Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) are dealing with their toughest challenge yet: the prospect of a long distance relationship as Nick heads to university.
Friday, July 17 on Netflix
In this touching drama, André Holland stars as a man recently released from prison who finds work at a gym as a boxing coach for teens. Wendell Pierce and Samira Wiley also star.
Friday, July 17 on Hulu
Kevin Hart and Netflix... name a more obvious duo. Hart stars in this Netflix original raunchy comedy about a fortysomething guy who is accidentally added to a text thread for a bachelor party, so he joins them in Miami for three days of debauchery.
Friday, July 24 on Netflix
In this comedy, Jake Johnson plays a former pro tennis player who takes up pickleball (ugh) in order to save a struggling country club. Mary Steenburgen, Aaron Chen, and Chloe Fineman also star.
Friday, July 24 on Apple TV
After you catch up on Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender, check out this all-new animated film following a grown-up Aang (voiced by Eric Nam) as he goes on a quest to find an ancient power that can save his culture from extinction.
Saturday, July 25 on Paramount+
Partying teens head to Thailand to go cave exploring — what can go wrong? Well, a lot when said cave has some sort of shark or other marine predator that has a taste for young Americans. The cast has a trio of YA superstars in The Summer I Turned Pretty's Gavin Casalegno, To All the Boys' Lana Condor, and The Society's Kathryn Newton.
Wednesday, July 29 on Prime Video
Twenty years after the original The Devil Wears Prada, Andy (Anne Hathaway) returns to Runway magazine to help her overbearing boss (Meryl Streep) keep up with the fast-paced times of modern online publishing (what's a social media?) and stave off corporate takeovers. Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt also star.
Wednesday, July 29 on Disney+
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie made over a billion dollars at the box office, so chances are you've already seen it, but now's your opportunity to watch Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Yoshi head to outer space again, with — hopefully — fewer screaming kids around you.
Thursday, July 30 on Peacock
