New Halloween movies in 2026

It's almost Halloween, so it's time to get so scared that you ruin the rest of the week because you can't get a wink of sleep. That's the paradox of horror movies; we watch them to see others suffer through a barrage of ax murderers, creatures under the bed, and ghosts in the shadows, thankful that it's not us being terrorized, only to be too scared to go to the bathroom late at night because of what we saw.

Nothing's scarier than watching a horror movie for the first time, so we've put together all the new ones coming just in time for Halloween. Some are making their grand debuts, and some or coming home for the first time.

Here are the new Halloween movies coming to Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, and more this fall.

We also have a list of the best classic Halloween movies to watch at home, too.

Scary Movie 6
2 of 13Paramount Pictures

Scary Movie 6

It's been more than a decade since Scary Movie 5, but there's been a lot of Scream movies in that time, so it made sense to bring this parody series back too. It's also a "return to its roots" kind of thing, since it's the first Scary Movie written by the Wayans brothers since Scary Movie 2 all the way back in 2001. [Trailer]

Chiwetel Ejiofor, Backrooms

Backrooms

One of the biggest and most surprising box office hits of the year was this small-budget film about a man (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who discovers, in the basement of his furniture store, a portal into a never-ending maze of offices. But the biggest surprise about the very-well-reviewed Backrooms was that it was the debut for 20-year-old filmmaker Kane Parsons — we pretty much never see filmmakers that young direct a studio film, and certainly not ones that take over the box office like this one did. Soulm8te

Soulm8te

You've seen Companion and Obsession, so complete the artificially clingy girlfriend movie trilogy with Soulm8te. In the Blumhouse horror film, a man (David Rysdahl) mourning the death of his wife agrees to beta test a companion robot (Lily Sullivan), and things go exactly where you expect them to go. [Trailer]

Infirmary

Infirmary

A new night guard at an infirmary in Los Angeles has a bad night when the only other night guard mysteriously vanishes, forcing him to explore parts of the facility he'd rather not know about. While found footage horror isn't exactly en vogue anymore outside the ongoing V/H/S series, Infirmary is nice enough to have a clever conceit, using security cameras and the guard's body cam for the footage. [Trailer]

Luciane Buchanan, Evil Dead Rush
6 of 13Warner Bros. Pictures

Evil Dead Burn

The latest installment of the Evil Dead franchise, which is straying further and further from the charm of the original trilogy, sees a woman (Souheila Yacoub) go on a getaway with her in-laws to mourn the death of her husband. But she must fight for her life after they're all turned into demonically possessed monsters, because that's what happens in these movies. [Trailer]

Friday, Oct. 2 on HBO Max

V/H/S Mixtape

V/H/S Mixtape

The ninth edition in the spooky anthology series includes a pack of music-themed, found-footage horror shorts from filmmakers RZA, Flying Lotus, Ernest Dickerson, Renee Zhan, David Moreau, and Ghost frontman Tobias Forge. [Trailer]

R.L. Stein's Pumpkinhead 2

R.L. Stein's Pumpkinhead 2

Most horror flicks tend to be strictly R-rated affairs, so it's nice to see more YA-friendly stuff like R.L. Stein's Pumpkinhead 2, about a town under siege by a bunch of — you guessed it — zombie-looking guys who have pumpkins for heads. Just don't expect a huge budget from this Tubi original movie. [Trailer]

Adam Scott, Hokum

Hokum

Obsession and Backrooms got all the glory as the big indie horror hits of this year, but don't sleep on Neon's Hokum, which is the most terrifying movie of the three. Directed by Damian McCarthy, who also wrote and directed the 2024 cult horror film Oddity, Hokum stars Severance's Adam Scott as a novelist who stays at a remote inn to spread his parents' ashes. But as we all know from horror movies, remote inns are always haunted, and things quickly get very creepy. [Trailer]

Clown Panic

Clown Panic

Remember all those scary clown sightings that started about a decade ago and went viral, with people all over the country reporting terrifying Bozos in the wild? Clown Panic does, and it examines the social phenomenon just in time for Halloween with interviews with witnesses, cultural commentators, cops, and the good kind of clowns (if that's actually a thing). [Trailer]

Milly Shapiro, Hallowarrior
11 of 13Shudder

Hallowarrior

A lone girl with orange hair called Pumpkin (Milly Shapiro, best known for having a close encounter with a sign in Hereditary) hangs out alone at her house after some sort of apocalypse scenario kills everyone. Or nearly everyone, since Pumpkin is going to have to fight off some particularly nasty other survivors in this stylish home invasion thriller with a twist. [Trailer]

Big Baby
12 of 13Shudder

Big Baby

A man starts writing a screenplay about a six-foot-tall baby man slasher villain, but then the baby man comes to life and starts threatening to kill his wife unless he finishes the script quickly. In other words, it's a shlocky Stephen King sort of story, and so it's likely to either be the best or worst thing you've watched this month. [Trailer]
