"The costume I created this year is a Weeping Angel from the show Doctor Who. Every year I challenge myself to create a unique handmade costume for our annual Halloween party. This costume was created using foam board for the wings which I etched using a wood burning tool then painted to create a shadowy look. I also hand painted the dress using various gray tones to create a realistic statue like effect . The wig was painted in the same fashion and hot glued into a bun shape at the neck. I painted my body with gray body paint and created a spooky makeup look that appears as if my eyes are open even when they are closed . We then took pictures in an old Civil War cemetery to add to the eerie feel . It was definitely a challenge to pull off but also a lot of fun. Happy Halloween!"

"I've always been a huge fan of Johnny Depp and the Edward Scissorhands movie itself. The character is very different than myself, quiet and timid, so acting like him throughout the night was tons of fun. I had the leather pants, jacket, and combat boots already, so I bought a $4 black turtleneck from Goodwill and a bunch of belts for $1 a piece to complete the clothing aspects of the costume. The hair was done by teasing and using black spray hair dye for $3 since I'm a natural blonde. As for the hands, the blades were constructed from craft foam, poster board, and popsicle sticks that were then painted and glued to an old pair of black leather gloves I found around the house. The gloves were then decorated with craft foam and metallic acrylic paint. Details such as craft foam bolts and the handles were made from broken scissors or eyelash curlers and some of the smaller ones from popsicle sticks or paperclips wrapped in craft foam."

"From the Disney Pixar film The Incredibles, I have created Mrs. Incredible (Elastigirl)'s very first super suit. I created the boots, gloves, belt, headband, and mask out of high quality pleather originally designed for use as a table cloth fabric! Being thrifty, the fabric only cost me $18! The pattern for the boots was actually made with cling wrap and duct tape around my leg, and then cut off and in two pieces where I wanted the seams. The Elastigirl logo was designed and formatted for our circuit cutter, transferred to iron on, and was carefully ironed on to the pre-stretched leotard. As for the wig, I wanted her to embody her 1970s time period by putting her hair in a bouffant in addition to her classic flipped out curls and bangs. The mask was created on a plastic mold so that it shaped to my face. Down to the height of her heels, this costume is a brought to life copy from the film. I have uploaded a reference photo from the movie. I hope you find my costume to be 'Incredible!'"

"I have loved Teen Wolf since the first movie! The first remains my favorite (No one matches Michael J. Fox) but I enjoy all incarnations of the character. The face is not a mask, it's done with liquid latex and a prosthetic nose/mouth, and lots of hair!"
