It's almost Christmas, and you know what that means. That's right, holiday specials new and old are coming to take over your television for the next few weeks, 'cause there's no time like the winter seasons for your favorite shows to bring in some merriment and lessons about the true reason for the season. To celebrate, we've gathered up some great images of all the times your favorite TV characters sported a Santa suit on-screen to spread a little joy -- or at least try to.
Family Guy: Season 15, Episode 9 - "How the Griffin Stole Christmas" (2016)
Peter Griffin gets the role of a lifetime when he's asked to fill in for the mall Santa, and of course he gets completely smashed on the power of St. Nick and needs a visit from the big guy to set him straight.
Mad Men: Season 4, Episode 2 - "Christmas Comes But Once a Year" (2010)
When the big-money client -- in this case, Lucky Strike's Lee Garner Jr. -- demands a man wear a Santa suit to the company party, Roger Sterling (John Slattery) is willing to oblige even if it means getting embarrassed in the process.
That '70s Show: Season 6, Episode 7 - "Christmas" (2003)
Tbh, he probably should've just gone as the Grinch, but even grumpy dads need side jobs once in a while, so Red Forman (Kurtwood Smith) makes the most of his mall Santa gig. "You'll get sick of a slinky in a day. I'm putting you down for flashcards. Math, that's what you're getting for Christmas." Such a practical Santa, this one.
Friends: Season 7, Episode 10 - "The One with the Holiday Armadillo" (2000)
With respect to Ross' Holiday Armadillo and Joey's, erm, Superman suit, Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) is the only one who comes dressed to impress young Ben, who wants nothing more than a visit from Santa despite his dad's formidable efforts to teach him about Hanukkah.
Saved by the Bell: Season 3, Episode 24 - "Home for Christmas, Part 1" (1991)
When the Santa-for-hire's cholesterol issues finally catch up with him, the Bayside High gang have to step up to save the day for the kiddos at a local children's hospital. Zack Morris (Mark Paul Gosselaar) becomes Santa, but the rest of the team pitches in too! Kelly is cute as a button in her Mrs. Claus outfit (OF COURSE), Jessie and Slater match as ultra-fit elves, and Screech leads everyone in as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and finally gets a Christmas kiss from Lisa.
The Simpsons: Season 1, Episode 1 - "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" (1989)
What better way to introduce the world to Homer Simpson than having him take up a job as a mall Santa to earn some extra cash for Christmas and then proceeding to quit and hit up the dog-racing track instead. Ho ho ... Doh!
Full House: Season 2, Episode 9 - "Our Very First Christmas Show" (1988)
You gotta give Joey (Dave Coulier) credit for at least trying to cheer Stephanie up about the whole family being stuck at an airport on Christmas Eve, but Michelle deserves just as many props for being wise enough to recognize her uncle beneath the disguise.
Married ... with Children: Season 2, Episode 13 - "You Better Watch Out" (1987)
Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) didn't always do the right thing, but when a mall Santa crashes and dies in his yard, he dons the red suit to keep the magic alive for all the neighborhood kiddos who still believe outside. Of course, he still can't conceal all that signature snark and cynicism beneath the jolly getup.
