On the Set: Nikita Goes Out With a Bang

Never let it be said that Nikita wouldn't hurt a fly. The cast and crew are shooting the action drama's final fight scene — between Nikita (Maggie Q) and best frenemy Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) — in a country estate outside Toronto. During a particularly intense take, a housefly alights atop a loaf of bread on the kitchen set. Prop guns are drawn, blanks are fired and blammo — a special-effects squib detonates inside the insect's meal, blowing dinner and diner to pieces. "Did you see that?" asks coexecutive producer Albert Kim, smacking his forehead while watching a replay over Maggie Q's shoulder. "Our effects crew always wants to blow up bread."

After a trademark twisty season, Damages' 90-minute finale (Monday at 10/9c on FX) will finally reveal who murdered Tom Shayes (Tate Donovan). But the more important question, according to co-creators and executive producers Todd A. Kessler and Daniel Zelman, is this: How will Patty (Glenn Close) and Ellen (Rose Byrne) move forward after Tom's death? Damages: Tate Donovan reacts to the season premiere's shocking twist "The most important part of the show for us is Ellen and Patty — their relationship and what makes them tick," Zelman says. "There's a certain amount of emotion in that relationship between the two women that is certainly going to play throughout the finale."

Poor David. On FX's dynamic and compelling Damages, Noah Bean's intern is perhaps the one character whose fate we do know, seeing as his eventual (and rather brutal) murder-by-hideous-bookends is at the crux of the series' mystery. Still, there are questions to be answered, such as: Will David cheat on Ellen? Will he get in Patty's face anytime soon? And what could Damages' second season possibly be about?
