It's ironic that this handsome, all-American actor was discovered on the Paris metro. But that's just where a modeling scout spotted him and soon Chambers was showcasing his impressive physique in campaigns for Calvin Klein and Armani. In the '90s, he segued to acting, first with a stint on the soap opera Another World. After a few more TV guest spots and roles in made-for-TV movies, he maneuvered onto the big screen. Although he definitely had the looks, he had trouble finding projects that highlighted his talents. He fared well in supporting parts as Jennifer Lopez's Italian fiancé in The Wedding Planner and the gentile buddy of a Jewish man in Liberty Heights. He returned to the small screen when he hit a career crossroads and landed on a hit show: the crime drama Cold Case. Unfortunately for him, the series only became popular after he left. He finally secured fame as arrogant but kind-hearted Dr. Alex Karev on the ABC hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Off-screen, Chambers leads a low-key life with his wife and their five children.

MIXED-ISH - In "mixed-ish," Rainbow Johnson recounts her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the '80s and the constant dilemmas they had to face over whether to assimilate or stay true to themselves. Bow's parents Paul and Alicia decide to move from a hippie commune to the suburbs to better provide for their family. As her parents struggle with the challenges of their new life, Bow and her siblings navigate a mainstream school in which they're perceived as neither black nor white. This family's experiences illuminate the challenges of finding one's own identity when the rest of the world can't decide where you belong. (ABC/Kelsey McNeal)
