• Attended high school with director Vincenzo Natali, appearing in many of his student films, which led him to drop out of high school as a senior to pursue acting
• Moved to Canada at a young age from Redhill, Surrey in England

• Played the same character, Rodney McKay, in three different "Stargate" TV series, and only one of three original "Stargate: Atlantis" actors to remain a cast member for all five seasons
• Used to run an Internet media company with his sister in Toronto, called Darkyl Media, named after the horse he learned to ride on
• Has professed great admiration fro the British sci-fi TV series "Doctor Who," and is said that he made sci-fi films with his friends in Britain on an 8 mm․ because of his love for the show
