• Attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he trained under John Gielgud and was a classmate of Alan Bates, Albert Finney and Peter O'Toole
• Left school at the age of 15 and worked in a warehouse during the day and performed in amateur theater at night

• Best known as a classical stage actor who was the voice of the title character in Disney's "Robin Hood․"
