They say the vice president is one heartbeat away from the presidency. Veep's VP, Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), might say otherwise. The comedy's previous season ended with her celebrating being the party's pick for the presidential nomination. But when Season 3 kicks off, a few months have passed and Selina's path to the Oval Office isn't as clear as she expected.
Starting this weekend's busy roundup with a few items from TV's cult corner, by which I mean Friday night TV on Fox and The CW, which each offered up an advance screener.
For Julia Louis-Dreyfus, playing U.S. Vice President Selina Meyer in HBO's new sitcom Veep feels like a homecoming. "I'm familiar with the culture of Washington because I grew up there," says the graduate of the tony D.C. private school Holton-Arms. "[First Daughter] Susan Ford and her Secret Service went to my high school, and Amy Carter went to my sister's. So I know that area."

Question: I would love to know your thoughts on the Cristina/Owen storyline at this point in the season of Grey's Anatomy. It goes without saying that Sandra Oh and Kevin McKidd have been absolutely flawless and incredible in acting out their scenes together, particularly in last week's episode. However, do you think this is a case where the acting outshines and elevates the writing for the most part and makes it more nuanced that what is on the page of the script? While I enjoy watching Sandra and Kevin act opposite one another and while I will always root for Cristina/Owen to work it out in spite of their endless issues and this endless storyline, I feel that the writing has not been serving them or the characters we have come to know.
