Report: CeeLo Green Returning to The Voice Next Season

There's no place like home for The Voice's original coaches.

There's no place like home for The Voice's original coaches.

CeeLo Green, who was on the first three seasons of the NBC singing competition show, will likely be back for Season 5, according to TheWrap.com. An executive for the NBC show tells the website that Green is in advanced negotiations to reclaim his red chair.

Where did The Voice land on NBC's fall schedule?

The report follows news that fellow Voice judge Christina Aguilera is also returning. The Voice's two other original coaches, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, are still in negotiations for this season — but they are expected to return.

Green and Aguilera both sat out Season 4 of The Voice to focus on their day jobs. Aguilera released a new studio album, Lotus, in November. Green has been performing in Las Vegas and also just sold a reality show to TBS, called The CeeLo Life. They were replaced by Usher and Shakira, who have been a hit with fans thus far.

Both of The Voice's network competitors still need to lock down big names for their upcoming seasons. Randy Jackson announced his departure from American Idol last week after 12 season, and his fellow judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban are all reportedly not returning next year. The X Factor needs to replace coaches Britney Spears and L.A. Reid before it returns in the fall.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC. Are you looking forward to seeing Green back on The Voice? Will you miss new additions Usher and Shakira?
