Hearts reach out between here and there, and Watanuki takes the plunge and travels to an unknown realm where flowers can speak and pipe foxes are transformed. The newly big beast is a bit overbearing yet full of love. His journey takes a spin toward the sweet when he runs into the Vestal Sprite, a blushing connection across dimensions which catches Watanuki off guard. Surely they will meet again. There is always a price to pay for real affection??? Could it be considered a bargain?

Episode 17

Circumstances

The heart wants what the heart desires??? And if the heart lusts for the ease of unhappiness, what can be done? A woman with a habit of self-sabotage must learn that taking the good with the bad means taking the bad with the good. Rose colored glasses are worthless to those that blindly choose neither. Yuko is no guide dog, so stepping into traffic could get the pity-partier killed. There is always a price to pay for ignoring the silver lining...

Hôzuki

A lantern usually lights the way, but for Watanuki and his plague of a partner Domeki, a lantern hides them from those that wish to dine on their flesh! Why has Yuko sent the duo to walk in a parade of demons? There are no marching bands in this unholy procession, but the cavalcade thankfully includes friendly faces that might prevent the boys from becoming the ceremonial feast. There is always a price to pay for being where you should not... But Yuko's desires will go unsatisfied for no man.

Episode 19

Rifujin

The snow is deep and the still white winter has settled over Yuko's curious shop of desires and dreams. Within a box from the witch's archives, every hope and wish waits to spring forth.

Episode 20

Aganai

A snapshot can be considered truth; a moment captured, unchanged by the impression of an artist. In Watanuki's world, however, even the plain facts are given to interpretation by the spirits.

Episode 21

Tsumekiri

Watanuki is on a rare paid vacation while Yuko is away on business. He will have plenty of time to get to the bottom of any tale that he chooses.

Episode 22

Yûwaku

Watanuki may be surrounded by the unseen, but to look into soft eyes after years of loneliness may be his greatest wish of all. He spends time with a forlorn woman with whom he shares a certain misery.

Episode 23

Sentaku

Who among the sorest souls would not trade pain for pain if a light could finally exist at the end of the loneliest tunnel? Watanuki may have spent the recent past inviting the afflicted into his world, but now his own agony must be dealt with.

Watanuki's is a tale of survival, of independence with no other option. The earliest memories of an odd young boy are peppered with visions of the unthinkable, a lonesome lad never alone when apart.
